How to reverse chemical damage

Updated: May 16, 2022

There is no worse feeling than seeing your once healthy hair begin to break off! You probably have tried just about every product by now to try and reverse the damage but it just doesn't seem to change.

Wondering what exactly chemical damage is?

Chemical damage is damage to the hair that is from hair color or lightening services. This can cause your hair to break, lose its elasticity, become dry, and be more prone to frizz.

This is one of many reasons women turn to extensions!

You can get the best results by using a combination of hair treatments and extensions.

Hair extensions are a great way to give your hair a break from all the damage caused by styling and chemicals. They can also be used if you want to add length or volume to your hair. The best part about having extensions is that they need styling less often which in turn gives your natural hair the much needed break it deserves!

Hair color or other lightening services can cause damage to your hair. The chemicals in these products attack the protective outer layer making your hair weaker, leaving cracks in the exterior, and eventually, this can cause your hair to break, lose its elasticity, become dry, and be more prone to frizz.

Keratin can easily be over used when used at home. This actually can damage your hair more. So crazy right! My current favorite treatment is the Davines Oi Liquid Luster. It softens the hair and adds a ton of shine!

Odds are you've tried chemical treatments with out much luck, so...

Your second option for fixing chemical damage to your hair–go short. A bob hairstyle, pixie cut, or an asymmetrical cut will give you shorter hair and remove the damaged hair. We get it, this might be a nightmare for you because you don't want short hair. Other options include shaving your head and buying a wig. If you don't like any of your options, so far, we have one more that might be right for you–hair extensions.

In our experience, 90% of women with chemical damage choose hair extensions.
